Hello to you all!

Welcome to the website of Chrysalis and I hope you enjoy touring the few pages we are able to provide you with.

First of all let me introduce myself. My name is Kerenza, some of you may recognize me from my 9 year experience working with the Cretan Animal Welfare Group and some of you may have never heard of me, but that’s ok, Chrysalis is an integral part of me and what I do so the information on Chrysalis will be mixed with the information about myself.

In October 2005, I participated in a 4 week residential course for Professional Leadership in Animal Protection called Pioneer Training. During this course the idea of Chrysalis was born. Given my background with CAWG I came to realize that this country, and especially the island of Crete, was in dire need of a society not dealing directly with the problems in animal welfare but rather dealing with the source of the problems. This is how the first Campaigning and Humane Education movement on the island of Crete became reality as the subcommittee of CAWG.

Our aims and objectives are to promote respect to humans, animals and the environment and to achieve higher animal welfare standards within the country of Greece.

However, this does not all happen through words. Words must be followed by action and action requires a considerable amount of resources, whether it be financial or in the form of manpower.

If you too are likeminded, believe in change, trust in the strength of our voices and actions combined, feel you can offer anything you deem fit and have the will to help, then please do contact us.

Never doubt that a small group of dedicated citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

Καλώς ήλθατε στην ιστοσελίδα της Χρυσαλίς και ελπίζω να απολαύσετε το ταξίδι μέσω των μειωμένων σελίδων που μπορούμε να σας παρέχουμε.

Πρώτα απ’όλα, ας συστηθώ. Το όνομά μου είναι Κορέντζα, κάποιοι από εσάς θα με γνωρίζετε λόγω της 9χρονης εμπειρίας μου με το σωματείο Φιλοζωική Κρήτης και κάποιοι δεν θα έχετε ακούσει ποτέ πριν το όνομά μου, αλλά δεν πειράζει, η Χρυσαλίς είναι αναπόσπαστο μέρος του εαυτού μου και των όσων κάνω οπότε οι πληροφορίες για το σωματείο θα είναι ανεμιγμένες και με πληροφορίες για τον εαυτό μου.

Τον Οκτώμβριο του 2005 συμμετείχα σε ένα σεμινάριο διάρκειας ενός μήνα για Επαγγελματική Αρχηγεία στον χώρο Προστασίας των Ζώων εν ονόματι Pioneer Training. Κατά την διάρκεια των μαθημάτων γεννήθηκε η ιδέα για την ειδική επιτροπή Χρυσαλίς. Μέσω της εμπειρίας μου με την Φιλοζωική Κρήτης συνειδητοποίησα πως αυτή η χώρα και ιδίως το νησί της Κρήτης, χρειαζόταν απελπισμένα όχι άλλο ένα σωματείο που να χειρίζεται άμεσα τα προβλήματα προστασίας ζώων αλλά ένα σωματείο που να χειρίζεται τις ρίζες των προβλημάτων. Κι έτσι το πρώτο σωματείο στην Κρήτη για Εκστρατείες και Διαπαιδαγώγηση έγινε πραγματικότητα ως ειδική επιτροπή της ΦΚ.

Οι στόχοι μας είναι η επίτευξη υψηλότερων και καλύτερων μέτρων σε θέματα προστασίας ζώων και η διδαχή σεβασμού προς συνανθρώπους, ζώα και το περιβάλλον.

Δυστυχώς όμως όλα αυτά δεν συμβαίνουν μέσα από λόγια. Τα λόγια θα πρέπει να ακολουθούνται από πράξεις και οι πράξεις απαιτούν ένα μεγάλο όγκο εθελοντισμού και υλικών αγαθών.

Αν κι εσύ έχεις τις ίδιες αρχές, πιστεύεις στην αλλαγή, εμπιστεύεσαι την δύναμη των φωνών και πράξεών μας μαζί, νοιώθεις πως μπορείς να συνεισφέρεις με οποιοδήποτε τρόπο και έχεις την θέληση να βοηθήσεις, τότε σε παρακαλούμε να επικοινωνήσεις μαζί μας.

Ποτέ μην αμφιβάλλεις πως μία μικρή αφοσιωμένη ομάδα πολιτών μπορεί να αλλάξει τονν κόσμο. Κι όμως, είναι το μόνο πράγμα που το έχει καταφέρει ως τώρα.
